The problem
The brief was a streaming app devoted to Christian indie artists and worship music: a focused alternative to general-purpose platforms that still had to deliver what listeners expect from one, including a full player, playlists, offline listening and paid subscriptions. It also had to be designed, built and shipped by a single mobile developer.
The approach
- 01Led the app's architecture and built it in React Native on a Firebase backend.
- 02Built offline playback: listeners download music and keep access to it without a connection.
- 03Added the library features that make a streaming app sticky: playlists, artist following, and likes on songs and playlists.
- 04Implemented subscription billing for paid access.
- 05Handled delivery end to end, including the store deployment.
